Article: “I Walk with Parvai”

“I Walk with Parvai”

“I Walk with Parvai”

Dedicated to the women who have walked beside me, who saw Parvai not just as an idea, but as a shared dream. To those who lent me their faith, their time, their talent, and nurtured this vision with courage, care, and quiet strength—

this poem is for you……

Quietly, slowly, gently I go—

Not rushed by the world, but led by a glow.

A flicker, a feeling, a seed deep within,

A whisper of craft, of silence, of skin.

Parvai, my vision—not mine alone—

It rose from the threads, from earth and from stone.

From hands that remember, from looms that still sing,

From voices unsaid, from roots that still cling.

I walk not ahead, I walk not behind,

But with those whose hearts are honest and kind.

We gather the broken, the beautiful, the old,

And spin them anew, more tender than bold.

Through process, through patience, through purpose, I move,

With stories to stitch and meanings to prove.

I do not command, I do not demand,

I offer a place. I offer a hand.

Each sari, each stitch, each shimmer, each dye,

Is a verse, is a vow, is a question, is why.

For what is a sari but memory worn?

And what is Parvai but vision reborn?

I find in its weft a vent for my soul,

To speak without noise, to mend and make whole.

And quietly, slowly, gently I see—

That Parvai is not made by me.

It makes me.

With love ,

Effie
