ANUPAMA : Made to Order

Sale priceRs. 72,000.00

This beautiful Kanchipuram Korvai silk sari is handwoven in Chinna Kanchipuram using traditional three-shuttle weaving techniques and crafted from pure mulberry silk. The body of the sari in a rich ochre yellow creates an elegant backdrop for delicate floral motifs woven in gold and silver zari. Contrasting Han Blue borders frame the sari beautifully, carrying intricate floral vine patterns woven in retrapettu format and enclosed within rows of the traditional pullinakham (tiger’s claw) motif, adding depth and structure to the design. The pallu continues this timeless Kanchipuram aesthetic and is paired with a one-metre contrast Han Blue blouse.

Soft, breathable, hypoallergenic, and luxurious in texture, the sari is designed for comfort while retaining the grandeur of classic Kanchipuram craftsmanship. Requiring over 200 person-hours of meticulous work, the sari is handwoven on a traditional jacquard floor loom using a two-ply warp and four-ply weft. The pre-loom preparation alone takes nearly eight days, followed by fifteen days of weaving.

At Parvai, every textile carries the stories of the people who make them. This sari was dyed by Shohan Babu and his team, with nearly six artisans involved in warping, sizing, winding, and loom preparation. The petni work was undertaken by Shanthi and Lakshmi. Designed by Ane Thomas, the sari was masterfully woven under the guidance of Dhanashekhar by the weaving duo Pachiappan and Kamala.

Project Anupama emerged from an entirely in-house design exploration inspired by floral forms and layered colour compositions. The intention behind the project was to create motifs that carried softness, depth, and elegance while remaining practical and timeless to wear. The Weaver family embraced the project with immense enthusiasm, reflecting the collaborative spirit that lies at the heart of Parvai’s work.
