Swaraakshi, our commissioned project is all set to roll out the final sari on the loom . We just began the petni for this warp. It will take a week before Weaver Rajesh begins weaving this beautiful sari with Ganga Jamuna borders.
An elegant silk sari in ivory white with ganga-jamuna borders. The top small border in teal blue and the bottom broad border in deep pink shot with ivory feature several rows of varied motifs of manga, rudraksham, kuyil kann and kayiru. The ornate pallu features a broad band of kuyil kann motif done in silver with rudraksham motif line in deep pink and rosy pink done on either side of this broad band. It is paired with a blouse which is a continuation of the sari.
LOOM 2 : KRISHNAKUMARI
Krishnakumari, is yet another commissioned project at Parvai. This stunning Kanchipuram korvai has a complex design intervention on the borders. The weavers are able to weave around .5m a day.
This beautiful Kanchipuram silk sari has a body in a dual shade of green and red with complementing red korvai borders. The elegance of this sari is elevated with the thin gold diamond motif line on the body and the vangki lines on the borders. The petni pallu in red has several peacock feather motifs adorning its center with lines on either side. It has a red silk blouse with gold vangki motifs in its borders
LOOM 3 : KALPANA
Kalpana, our lighter silk range. Weaver Dhanamuthu is currently working on the 2nd sari of this warp. He hopes to complete this sari by the end of this week.
An exquisite wine coloured mulberry silk sari with borders adorned with beautiful thuthiripoo motifs in light beige encased between rows of petal motif in white. The stunningly elaborate pallu is a continuation of the sari with sixteen rows of the same beigish thuthiripoo motifs encased within black horizontal lines. The sari is accompanied by a gorgeous checkered silk blouse.
LOOM 4 : LALITA
Lalitha is the second of our lighter weight silk saris. The body of the is beautifully aligned with linear motifs done using the adai technique. Weaver Neelakantan weaves from the comfort of his home, however he does finds this project difficult and time consuming.
A mulberry silk sari in peachy beige shot with bubblegum pink with 75 vertical thin lines consisting of elongated diamonds and small dots in a beautiful shade of peachy beige. The borders are exquisite, adorned with the main delicate motif line with circle motifs and muttu lines on either side all in peachy beige and finished with long blue triangles. The pallu is a continuation of the sari featuring the banarasi twill weave woven in the same peach shade as the borders. The sari comes with a plain blouse in peachy beige shot with bubblegum pink on weft adding the touch of elegance and gorgeousness to this ethereal drape.
LOOM 5 : VASANTA
The final sari of the Vasanta series is a beautiful bright Kanchipuram Korvai. Weaver Senthil and Weaver Sandiappn enjoy weaving the bright colours. We look forward to completing this sari by the end of this week.
Project Vasanta draws its inspiration from a 45 year old classic Kanchipuram silk sari that was gifted to Vasanta Amma. The delicate durbarpett motif in Amma's sari is a beauty that influenced the exquisite borders of Vasanta. The palette is inspired by the distinct patterns and colours of the Zinnia flower, which are considered a symbol of endurance and goodness.
This beautiful handwoven Kanchipuram silk sari in a deep rust orange body has brilliant pink korvai borders with ornate motifs done in gold zari. The petni pallu in pink has durbarpett motif in gold zari. The sari is paired with a plain violet silk blouse to complete the look.
LOOM 6 : PALAKKA
The final sari of our prestigious Palakka project is very close to our heart. The current sari is being done in very unusual colours. Weaver Kumar & Weaver Vadivel maintain a great rhythm as they weave this spectacular Korvai.
A magnificent Kanchipuram silk sari in dark ash grey with handknotted ganga-jamuna borders in light ash and golden brown. The borders are adorned by rows of sadhuram and palakka motifs done in ash grey, red and green along with gold zari lines adding to the exquisiteness of the sari. The unique feature of this sari is its two pallus. The inner pallu has a golden brown band done in temple reku along with green palakka motifs on either side of the band. The outer pallu has a band of gold zari done in seepu reku with red bands in thazampoo reku on either sides. It is paired with a plain dark ash grey blouse to add to its overall elegance.
LOOM 7 : VATSALYA
Vatsalya is a commissioned project and the second series of our cotton korvai endeavours. Its taken 42 days of pre loom prep and now its all set to be woven.
A classic handwoven Kanchipuram cotton korvai sari with a stunning blue body and striking red borders. The borders are adorned by the paneer sombu motif lines in beige, kayiru motif lines in black and the arasa ilai motifs in silver zari. The black selvedge adds to the old world charm of this gorgeous drape. The pallu has beautiul bands woven in silver zari attached by thazampoo reku on the sides. The sari comes with a blouse that is a continuation of the sari. Vatsalya exudes an old - world charm evoking a timeless, deep emotion with its warm colours.
LOOM 8 : PRIYADARSHINI
Yet another commissioned project! Weaver Harikrishnan and Weaver Latha, the amazing weaver couple are a delight to watch as they skillfully execute this stunning warp.
This gorgeous Kanchipuram silk sari is woven in solid khaki grey with contrasting maroonish brown korvai borders attached to the body of the sari with triangle patterns. The exquisite borders comprise of four bands of motif designs, two bands woven together at the top of the border and two at the bottom. The borders comprise of intrictaley woven fish and flower motifs in offwhite in the first motif line and light yellow in the second. The stunning maroonish brown petni pallu of the sari has a linear arrangement of the unique flower motifs in dark brown and the fish motifs alternating between off white and light yellow. The contrasting plain blouse of the sari in the border colour has two rows of the motif lines in alternating colours.
LOOM 9 : KALPANA KORVAI
Petni work and pre loom preparations underway
A gorgeous Kanchipuram silk sari in yellow with stripes all thorughout the length of the body in bleached white with a thin silver zari line in the centre of the stripe. The korvai borders in blue attached to the body by thazampoo reku with muttu lines in silver zari on either sides of the borders, add to the innate beauty of this sari. The sari has a petni pallu adorned with a band of thazampoo reku in silver zari with yellow lines on either side of the band. It is accompanied by a plain yellow silk blouse.
LOOM 10 : KALPANA YARDAGE FOR BLOUSES
Weaver Kumaravelu is effortlessly weaving some beautiful checkered blouse fabric for Parvai. We look forward to pairing these with some of the saris that are currently in production.
LOOM 11 : LALITA
Weaver Arumugham carefully completes the final pre loom prep before he starts weaving a unique design on this warp.
A beautiful mulberry silk sari in a solid greyish blue colour with exquisite diamond buttas in peachish beige all throughout the body. The shimmering body of the sari is adorned with 76 vertical lines with 15 diamond butas in each line arranged alternately. The interplay of colours at the border comprising of the vel motifs in peachy beige, dark navy blue lines, silver zari bands, a banaras motif band in peachy beige and a striking bubblegum pink selvedge give the drape an unparallelled elegance. The pallu is an extension of the body with a broad chevron motif band in silver zari. The plain silk blouse in greyish blue has the the same borders as the sari.
LOOM 13 : BRIDAL BROCADES
We are extremely excited to have a woman weaver working on our prestigious bridal series. Weaver Krishnaveni has years of experience in weaving brocades. Today she is happy to have her own loom in the comfort of her home. She completes the petni work while the design is being set on an adai.
LOOM 16 : AHILYA, MAHESHWARI COTTON IN PURE ZARI
The silk brocade blouse for our pure cotton Maheshwari saris are ready to be woven. Meanwhile the cotton warping for the saris are in progress.
