Parvai’s Raag is an ode to the quiet rhythm of linen, handwoven in Bhagalpur, where looms move in gentle continuity with nature. This is a landscape where weaving is not industrial, but intimate, held within homes, shaped by routine, and guided by a deep understanding of material.

At the centre of this work are two looms, sustained within traditional households, and a close-knit group of fifteen artisans led by Atesham, a young master weaver whose commitment to his village and craft brings both continuity and renewed energy. His leadership reflects a rare balance, respect for inherited knowledge alongside a quiet openness to refinement.

Working with pure linen, a material that demands patience and control, we approach the textile with restraint. Linen holds structure differently; it resists, it breathes, and over time, it softens into itself. Each yarn is carefully handled, each weave measured, allowing the fabric to find its natural rhythm. The palette remains subdued, drawn from soft, natural tones that sit gently within the textile rather than upon it.

Our engagement extends across saris and home textiles, where the focus remains consistent: clarity of weave, integrity of material, and a respect for process. There is no urgency here, only a deliberate pace that allows the textile to emerge with coherence.

Raag is not defined by scale, but by intention. It honours slow making, honest collaboration, and the generational knowledge carried within each loom. Above all, it reflects the quiet dignity of labour, where every thread becomes a gesture of care, and every finished piece holds within it a sense of stillness, balance, and belonging.
