Parvai Natural Dye Cotton Tissue Sari : A rare green

Sale priceRs. 40,000.00

Aswathy – Natural Green Cotton Tissue

A quiet celebration of precision, Aswathy is handwoven in pure cotton using an intricate tissue weave that lends the fabric a gentle luminosity without compromising the lightness and comfort of cotton. Woven in Kerala, it reflects Parvai's ongoing exploration of bringing together the finest traditions of South Indian weaving.

The deep forest green body is created using natural indigo layered with pomegranate peel and turmeric, a centuries-old dyeing practice that produces an earthy green impossible to replicate with synthetic colours. Fine extra-weft checks run rhythmically across the sari, while delicately woven thazhampoo motifs emerge with quiet elegance, framed by a soft tissue border and pallu that catch the light with remarkable subtlety.

Every detail is the result of extraordinary craftsmanship. The loom requires nearly a month of preparation, while each sari takes approximately fifteen days to weave. Throughout the process, the weaver repeatedly pauses to break, reset, and realign the zari around every motif and check, ensuring perfect balance across the textile. This painstaking rhythm of weaving and recalibration leaves virtually no room for error.

Aswathy is woven by Prakash, a master weaver from Tamil Nadu, as part of Parvai's long-term collaboration with a family of five artisans committed to continually refining this unique design language. The result is a textile that unites Kerala's extraordinary command over fine cotton with Tamil Nadu's mastery of structural weaving.

Elegant, understated, and deeply rooted in tradition, Aswathy is a sari for those who appreciate quiet luxury, technical excellence, and the enduring beauty of handmade textiles.
